About the press

Founded in 1986 by Kim Merker, the University of Iowa Center for the Book in Iowa City is an arts and research program dedicated to the past, present and future of the book. It integrates hands-on practice in bookbinding, letterpress printing, papermaking and the lettering arts with the historical and cultural study of the book, and offers an MFA in Book Arts and a graduate certificate.
