About the press
Purgatory Pie Press, begun by Dikko Faust in 1977 and joined by Esther K. Smith in 1980, hand-sets wood and metal type to make letterpress limited editions, artists' books, and ephemera. After decades in Tribeca the press now works at the Brooklyn Army Terminal in New York City. Its work is held in collections including MoMA, the Metropolitan Museum, Cooper Hewitt, the Tate, and the Brooklyn Museum.
